Summer socials and poignant singing of Total Eclipse of the Heart
We always take a break from our weekly sessions during the summer but organise a few social gatherings to keep us connected. In May we sang at the Marina Market; we had a bring and share buffet with amazing singing in Elizabeth’s garden in July; then we met up in Cwmdonkin Park, had a picnic and performed our summer concert repertoire. This coincided with live ITV news coverage from the park, during which Carol was interviewed and we sang Total Eclipse of the Heart.
When we sang this song in our concert in May we sent it with love to Bonnie Tyler, wishing her well in her recovery. After we sang it in Elizabeth’s garden on 8th July, we were shocked and sad to hear of her passing the following morning.
It felt like a fitting tribute to sing it again in the park in August.
